Dad’s Slow Cooked Pork Ribs with Cola

.

Cola ribs!Sounds gross, right? Wrong! It’s the best way to make sweet, salty, tender slow cooked pork ribs and you’ll never make them another way again. It’s super easy. All you do is toss all the ingredients in a roasting pan, cover it with cola, and slow cook in the oven for a few hours. These are a hit with my two kids and even the wife because it makes for a fun family supper where we can all get messy.

What You’ll Need:

  • 2 generous racks of pork ribs (chopped into single serving pieces)

  • 3 big onions (sliced-n-diced)

  • 1 regular can of dark cola (can’t say the particular brand but you get the idea)

  • 18 ounces of your fav barbecue sauce

  • 1⁄3 of a cup of regular soy sauce

  • 1⁄4 of a cup of brown sugar

  • 2 cloves of garlic, crushed

  • 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce

  • 1⁄2 of a teaspoon of pepper

How to Make It:

  1. In a mixing bowl, mix together the soy sauce, brown sugar, the crushed garlic, some Worcestershire sauce and the pepper (you can add more pepper if you prefer).

  2. Mix it all together really well until it’s like a thick sauce. Then, rub it all onto ribs.

  3. Next, layer the rib pieces with the onions in a roasting pan with a lid and then pour the cola over all of it.

  4. Place the cover and bake at 250°F for about 4-4.5 hours.

  5. Remove the roasting pan from the oven and drain off the juices as best you can.

  6. Then, add the BBQ sauce, cover again and put back in the oven for another hour.

And voila! You’re now the pork BBQ ribs master. By slow cooking the ribs recipe on a low heat you end up with the most tender pork ribs you’ll ever eat. And it’s messy finger food, so it’s a definite hit with the kids.
