9 Things Dad is More Fun at

At the risk of starting an internet battle of the sexes here, I’d like to say that there are just certain things that dads are more fun at doing than moms are. Sorry, ladies! With that being said, there are special cases where the moms are more fun, I’m sure. In fact, there’s probably cases where the moms are just simply better at everything (my wife thinks so, anyway. Love you, honey! *blows kisses*)

So, to avoid any bloody battle scenes, let’s just focus on what I know to be my strengths in the Dad Department and you can either agree or…read another DadStuff article.

.

1) Reading Stories

.

As both a self-proclaimed “fun dad” and a children’s book author/illustrator, I tend to read the funnier stories, complete with crazy voices and the occasional song. I’m like a real-life Johnny Karate.

.

2) Playin’ Rough

.

I dunno about you, but my kids like to play hard. They’re constantly covered in bruises and scrapes. But you have to just keep playing, you can’t stop and kiss every boo-boo. That’s Mom’s job.

.

3) Getting Dirty and Being Gross

.

Mom is always there, snot tissue in hand, and ready to wipe up any boogers or vomit. Daddy says, “Meh, wipe it on your shirt and let’s make this mud pie!”

.

4) Building Epic Forts

.

I used to work in construction so I know a thing or two about how to assemble stuff, epic play forts included. It’s all about the large, but light, sheets.

.

5) Dominating Sports

.

Rather than say that boys are better at sports than girls, I’ll just say that we just tend to like them more. Most guys live for sports and we feel a sense of pride when our kids show an interest in them. Just let us have this moment.

.

6) Goofing Around

.

Making up goofy songs on the spot, assembling the family band using bowls and tins, and creating our own secret language. That’s all Dad.

.

7) Being Tough and Stern

.

Daddy may be fun, but he’s not to be messed with. Dad’s metaphorical downward foot is the ultimate last word in this house. But I only use it after Mom has exhausted her 10 million second chances. (*blows more kisses*)

.

8) Fixing Stuff

.

Dad’s are fairly decent at fixing stuff. Mom’s are super awesome at breaking stuff.

.

9) Video Games

.

Dads have years and years of wisdom and experience to pass down to their children. Video game skills included.

There you go, guys! Remember; everyday can be Father’s Day if you let it. And, hey, if you have any ideas to add feel free to comment and share! Remember, we love hearing about that stuff!
